PA American Water Temporarily Changes Treatment Process

As part of its distribution system (pipeline) maintenance program, Pennsylvania American Water is temporarily changing its disinfection treatment process in the greater Norristown system from a chloramine (combined) residual to free chlorine residual. Customers may notice an increase in the taste and smell of chlorine in the water as a result of the change.

This is only temporary while they complete this system maintenance. The free chlorine residual treatment change began April 11, 2022, and will transition back to a chloramine residual on June 27, 2022. Read more
