Officer of the Year (2022)

The Lower Providence Optimist Club proudly presented Detective Charles King with the Officer of the Year award for 2022. This prestigious award is presented to an officer each year who goes above and beyond in their daily assignments and displays exemplary service, surpassing all expectations and proving they are commendable of such an award.

Detective King started his career with the Lower Providence Township Police Department in 2008 as a patrol officer. Throughout the years, he has matured professionally into a thorough and skillful investigator within the Detective Division. According to his direct supervisor, “Detective King is relentless in the pursuit of offenders that commit crimes in Lower Providence Township.” He had one of his most productive years in 2022 and was recognized as the primary investigator in a slew of thefts from B&M Auto Repair and throughout the county. He received a Unit Citation for his participation and intelligence into this investigation.

Detective King’s genuine and positive attitude, coupled with his work ethic has gained him respect by the members in his department and throughout the community. He is always willing to volunteer during various community-based events, such as the Junior Police Academy, and is a positive role model for the youth within our community. Detective King’s dedication to the profession of law enforcement is second to none and can be observed daily.
