A Message to Residents From the Board of Supervisors
While most Lower Providence businesses have shut down in compliance with the shelter in place order from Governor Wolf, much of the services provided by municipal government in Lower Providence continue to function. We are happy to report that Lower Providence Police and Lower Providence Ambulance continue to operate daily with a full complement of officers and paramedics. The Lower Providence Volunteer Fire Department also continues to address all emergency calls in our township. We are grateful to all First Responders for keeping Lower Providence safe.
In addition to emergency services, our Lower Providence Public Works continues to operate throughout the township. Public Works is focused on maintaining the safety of our roads and infrastructure. Please know that if you see our Public Works crews out on our streets, the projects they are working on have been deemed necessary and essential to the continued safe operation and upkeep of our township infrastructure.
At the township building, our administrative staff is working to answer your calls, provide daily updates via our website and social media pages, and continue as best as possible with the daily administration of township business. While our parks are currently closed, the trails in Lower Providence remain open for daily exercise. Residents are encouraged to follow social distance guidelines when utilizing the trail system.
Finally, the Board of Supervisors recognizes the need to find ways to allow for the democratic process of governance to continue even during this time of sheltering in place. A brief meeting of the Board was held on Friday, March 20 to extend the period of state of emergency in the township. The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors is anticipated to take place as scheduled on April 2 with the following modification. Although we will not be able to accommodate the public in-person in the auditorium, the meeting will be live broadcast and opportunities for public comment during the meeting will be created. Please refer to updates on the township webpage and Facebook page in advance of the meeting on April 2 for specific details on how to participate. Please be aware that one of the items that is anticipated to be discussed at the meeting on April 2 is an extension to the tax payment discount period in conjunction with Montgomery County municipal government.
Residents are encouraged to continue to follow the updates from the Montgomery County Emergency Services as well as all information provided by Governor Wolf and his administration. The Board of Supervisors of Lower Providence Township is confident that we will come through this crisis as a unified community and that Lower Providence Township will remain a wonderful place to live, work and play.
Please stay safe and stay healthy.
Sincerely,
The Lower Providence Board of Supervisors
