Backflow Preventer - Section 715.1 of IPC (International Plumbing Code) states that any plumbing fixtures that are installed on a floor with an elevation below the elevation of the manhole cover of the next upstream manhole in the public sewer, shall be protected by a backflow preventer in the building drain or horizontal branch serving such fixture.

If you feel that your fixture connections fall in this category, feel free to call the Sewer Authority to come out and inspect your situation and possibly help you with your next step to protect yourself from a messy surcharge backing into your home. Such fixture connections might include washer hookups, water softener, backflushing lines, toilets, shower stalls, sinks and illegally connected sump pumps and floor drains.

REMINDER: Please do not flush masks, gloves or wipes into the Sanitary Sewer System.  This can cause the pumps to clog and damage to equipment at our Pumping Stations. Also, please don't flush disinfecting wipes down the toilet. Read more.

Rate Increase Notice - Effective January 1, 2023

Please be advised of an increase in the sewage treatment charge portion of your bill, effective January 1, 2023, which will be billed April 1, 2023 for the months of January, February and March.

The Sewer Authority was established in 1962 to finance, construct, own and operate a sanitary sewage collection system and administer to the needs of the residents of the township regarding the disposal of sanitary sewage.

The Sewer Authority currently maintains approximately 100 miles of pipe and 17 pumping stations within the township. We transport on average 3 million gallons of sewage per day through the collection system to the treatment plant for treatment.

Chapter 117 of the Township Code pertains to sanitary sewer related issues and can be found by clicking here.
