A Statement from the Board of Supervisors

To the Lower Providence Community:

During these distressing times, we want to let you know that we share the anguish and frustration felt by so many regarding the tragic and senseless death of George Floyd. We stand with you in rejecting racial injustice.  We wholeheartedly support peaceful protests.  Peaceful expression of First Amendment Rights is always welcome here.

Unfortunately, destructive violence or conversely, calls for vigilantism threaten to distract from this important message. Rest assured that the cruel treatment of Mr. Floyd - which has no place in law enforcement - in no way reflects on the compassionate members of your Lower Providence police force. Each and every officer is committed to justice through fair and impartial policing and takes great pride in serving our diverse community. As a board, we expect nothing less from our officers.

On behalf of our officers, Township officials and staff, please know that we will continue to listen and work with community members to keep the Lower Providence community safe, supportive, and inclusive for all.
