Lower Providence Township will hold its annual Community Tree Lighting and Winter Wonderland on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Township complex. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and the event is free and open to the public.

The community tradition, now in its 11th year, continues to grow in popularity and provides an evening of old-fashioned fun sure to get you in the spirit of the season.

The Arcola Intermediate School’s Select Chorus will entertain the crowd with songs of the season. The young and young-at-heart can win prizes playing various “Reindeer Carnival Games” and there will be meet and greets with familiar holiday characters. The Lower Providence Optimist club will serve hot chocolate and cookies.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive via a Lower Providence fire truck 6:30 p.m. to lead the countdown and the lighting of the tree. Following the tree lighting, Santa will be available for photos in the Winter Wonderland.

New this year, the Parks and Recreation Department has their own magical elf and will be asking for the public’s help to give him a name. Votes can be cast in the Winter Wonderland area. During December, the elf will make it off the shelf and into Lower Providence Township parks. Residents can follow LP Parks and Recreation on social media for clues on where to find him for prizes. Visit lptrec.com for more details.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a canned good for the Township’s Caring and Sharing program. Coats and gloves can also be donated for “Feel the Warmth.”

The Township complex is located at 100 Parklane Drive in Eagleville.
