Officers Commended for Life-Saving Efforts

Sgt. Bill Hopkins and Ofc. Matt Cerasuolo were recognized by the Board of Supervisors for their actions that resulted in saving the life of a choking victim.

The officers responded to a local restaurant for a man choking on food. Upon arrival, they observed that the man's airway was blocked. Initial performance of the Heimlich maneuver was not successful, so the officers continued with stomach thrusts and CPR which dislodged the food and cleared the victim's airway.
