UPDATE (8/4/2022) - Resources for Human Development (RHD), the applicant for the proposed supportive short-term housing program at 1217 S. Trooper Road, has requested a continuance of all applications before the Board of Supervisors and Zoning Hearing Board. The continuance is for an indefinite length of time, and should the applicant wish to proceed the Township and the Zoning Hearing Board will have 45 days to commence the first hearings upon notification from RHD. Updates will be posted to the Township website and Facebook page if/when the hearings are scheduled.

Township officials are aware that Lower Providence has been mentioned in recent news articles with regard to the relocation of a supportive short-term housing program operated by Resources for Human Development on behalf of Montgomery County.

On June 30, 2022, a submission was made to the Township with numerous requests for zoning relief and approvals related to this facility. All submissions will go through the standard zoning and/or land development process, which will subject them to thorough review against all Township ordinances and applicable state laws, prior to any decisions being rendered. All meetings of the Zoning Hearing Board are open to the public in person. Board of Supervisors meetings are open to the public in person and by Zoom. Once the dates for these meetings are set, the agendas will be posted to the Township website at www.lowerprovidence.org. Public comment is not only permitted at all of these meetings, but strongly encouraged.
