Lower Providence Township's efforts to keep its residents updated and informed earned a first-place award in the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors' (PSATS) 52nd annual Citizen Communication Contest. The township received a first place in the Audiovisual Communications category for the 2019 Supervisors' Open House event.

For the past three years, the Township Supervisors have held an open house as part of their goal to increase outreach and communication. The unique event provides an opportunity for the supervisors to present the “state of the township” and for residents and businesses to learn first-hand about current/planned projects and goals for the future. Before and after the supervisors’ presentation, attendees are invited to view exhibits on projects and resources in the Township.

In 2019, in an effort to reach as many citizens as possible, the event was videotaped. The video was then made accessible in the following of ways:
  • Links on the Township website
    • News tab on the home page
    • Board of Supervisors’ webpage
    • Agendas & Minutes button in the Citizen Action Center on the home page
  • Online availability of the video announced at Board of Supervisors’ meetings
  • Facebook post with link to the video

PSATS represents Pennsylvania's 1,454 townships of the second class. Townships of the second class represent more residents - 5.5 million Pennsyvlanians - than any other type of political subdivision in the Commonwealth.
