Moyer’s Landfill Superfund Site

Update (January 10, 2024) - To investigate PFAS groundwater contamination identified in spring 2023 near the Moyers Landfill Superfund site, the EPA is installing 6 monitoring wells in three locations on and around the site. Two locations are on the landfill with the third location at the intersection of Visitation Road and Hi-Vue Rd/South Grange Ave. Installation and development of the wells will take approximately five weeks after which they will be sampled.

A public availability session was hosted by the US Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday, June 29, 2023 to discuss recent sampling at the Moyer's Landfill site.

The 65-acre Moyers landfill site in Eagleville was in operation from the early 1940s until 1981, accepting municipal waste, sewage and industrial sludges. It was added to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) in 1983 and deleted from the NPL in 2014. Cleanup, operation and maintenance activities are ongoing.

Sampling performed by the PA Department of Environmental Protection during the summer and fall of 2022 identified the presence of PFAS, man-made chemicals, in the leachate at the site. Additional residential well samples will be collected to ensure that PFAS have not migrated to wells surrounding the site. Residents connected to public water would not be impacted.
