Fireworks

Safety First fireworks sign

The Lower Providence Township Fire Marshal suggests that everyone enjoy fireworks safely by attending public displays organized by professionals. It's a great way to celebrate without the risks involved with setting off fireworks at home.

If you plan to use fireworks at home, here are some safety tips to keep in mind:

  • Always have a responsible and sober adult supervise the discharge of fireworks.
  • Carefully follow the directions on the fireworks package
  • Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of emergencies.
  • Light fireworks one at a time and stand back after lighting them.
  • Never re-light a firework that doesn't fully ignite.
  • Discard used fireworks into a bucket of water. Do not place used fireworks into a trash can or dumpster until at least 24 hours after sitting in the bucket of water.
  • Fireworks cannot be discharged within 150 feet of a building or vehicle regardless if the building or vehicle is owned by the user of the consumer fireworks.
